AhlulBayt News Agency: His Eminence; the Senior Official of the al-Abbas's (p) Shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, called to compensate the relatives of the victims of terrorist attacks in Iraq, during a meeting with the delegation of the Center for the Documentation of terrorist crimes at the United Nations, headed by an Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and serves as the Special Adviser and Head of the Investigative Team established pursuant to Security Council resolution 2379 (2017), to promote accountability efforts for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Da’esh/ISIL; Mr. Christian Ritscher.

Sayed Al-Safi said that "the scientific aspect regarding the crimes of the terrorist Daesh and before it al-Qaeda as a historical sequence, is important to find out what produced these crimes, and it depends on a set of research methods available to some and not available to others, calling for compensation to the families of the victims of terrorist attacks in Iraq" and stressing the "importance of the role that the United Nations should play in this regard" .

He added that "we suffer from the fact that many of the country's problems during the lifetime of the modern state in a century passed without a documented pause, and this made us lose a lot of proof of the facts, which produced a distortion of the reality of the country because non-Iraqis wrote about Iraq, and this gave an unrealistic picture".

"There is a very huge heritage, but the political problems suffered by Iraq and the old vicissitudes made our documentation limited," he said, pointing out that "even some of those who wanted to know the truth was unfortunately unfair, and showed the facts according to his own reading of history."

Sayed Al-Safi reviewed the role of the religious authority in Najaf over the centuries, in finding solutions to conflicts and extinguishing the fires of differences, up to the crime of blowing up the shrine of Imam al-Hadi and Imam al-'Askari (peace be upon them) in Samarra, as His Eminence the supreme religious authority Sayed Ali al-Sistani issued a statement in which he stressed restraint, and not to be drawn into undisciplined actions despite the enormity of the crime, but this detail has passed through history unnoticed despite its importance in giving the country a new vision in understanding how conflicts are managed".

He stressed the need to register and archive documents condemning the terrorist gangs and those behind them, asking about the possibility of the United Nations organization to condemn who was behind the terrorist organization and its sources of financing with weapons, powerful communications devices and others, and helped to occupy a third of Iraq, if the facts do not appear today, they will appear tomorrow.

"If we accept that the UN team was able to diagnose who was supporting ISIL, is there an obligation on these parties to compensate the wounded and martyrs who were martyred?" We know that ISIL is not a state in the known sense to be held accountable, and as a result, the blood of the victims will go without compensation, so we want to condemn those who support the organization in front of international forums, and emphasize compensation for the families of the victims and the wounded,"he said.

For his part, the head of the UN delegation thanked His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi for the warm welcome, noting his admiration for the "inspiring words" of His Eminence.

Mr. Christian Ritscher said that we had a conversation with Sayed al-Safi about the crimes committed by Daesh terrorist gangs, and we agreed to exchange visits to discuss documenting the crimes committed in Iraq.

The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has worked to document The Crimes of extremism and terrorism in Iraq by issuing encyclopedias that explain these crimes, such as the Encyclopedia of the fatwa of efficient defense and an encyclopedia on the crime of what is known as the"Speicher base".
